Uber just released the ultimate millennial credit card     DATE: 2024-10-15 22:59:56

When all the millennials delete Uber, give them a free Spotify credit and see if they'll come back.

Uber just released its first credit card, and it's full of every possible millennial perk a giant tech company and/or credit card provider would think young people want.

The Visa card in partnership with Barclays will give you a $50 credit for subscription services once you spend $5,000 in a year—aka $50 toward Spotify, Netflix, or Amazon Prime.

It also offers higher cash back for things related to Uber's core business: transportation and travel. You get 4 percent back for dining (as Uber helpfully points out, including UberEATS), 3 percent for hotels and airfare, 2 percent for online purchases (as Uber again helpfully points out, including Uber), and 1 percent on everything else. All your rewards can of course be translated into Uber credits.

"With the Uber Visa Card, you can earn rewards for all your purchases — and those rewards stack up even faster for things like grabbing dinner with a friend, booking your next trip, taking an Uber to work, or even shopping online," Uber product manager for financial products Drew Quinn wrote in a blog post.

As soon as you apply online or via Uber's app, the card will appear in your Uber app. Then the physical credit card will arrive in the mail seven to 10 days later. In the Uber app, you can see information you'd usually track in a banking app, like your credit card points balance.

“Through our partnership with Uber and Visa, we have created one of the most innovative and modern payment experiences in the market,” Denny Nealon, head of U.S. partnerships at Barclays, said in a statement. “The Uber Visa Card is one of the richest no annual fee card programs available in the U.S. Our deep integration into the Uber app enables us to provide the simple and seamless experience customers are looking for.”

The card is available starting Nov. 2.
